Mosaic Lowell Creative Economy Plan
The Lowell Plan is a strong supporter of Mosaic Lowell and the Greater Lowell Community Foundation in their launch of the recent Creative Economy Report, which found that Lowell’s creative economy supports nearly 4,000 jobs and generates $364 million in economic activity annually.
Transformative Development Initiative in Lowell’s Acre Neighborhood
The Lowell Plan helped advance the Acre Partnership, a collaborative effort that supports economic revitalization along the upper Merrimack and Market Street corridors in the city’s Acre neighborhood.
Since the corridor was designed by MassDevelopment as a Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) District in 2022, nearly $4.5 million of direct investment has supported mixed-use and commercial developments, 50+ new units of housing for first-time homebuyers, and a $250,000 investment in placemaking and public art. With contributions from eight community partners, the collective impact has attracted additional investments and catalyzed new economic activity.
Downtown Lowell Business Improvement District
The Downtown Lowell Business Improvement District is a community-led initiative currently in formation that would provide dedicated resources to strengthen downtown Lowell. Through investments in placemaking, beautification, marketing, and business support, the Business Improvement District will complement existing city services while helping create a cleaner, more vibrant, economically resilient downtown that attracts visitors, supports local businesses, and enhances quality of place.
